Dr. Brian Morrison completed his undergraduate studies in biology at the State University of New York at Binghamton. He became interested in integrative medicine after suffering from recurrent, severe low back pain due to a sports injury. He did not find relief with traditional methods and sought the services of a chiropractor.

Based on his successful experience he decided to pursue chiropractic as a career. In 1987, he graduated magna cum laude, valedictorian from Logan College of Chiropractic in Chesterfield, MO.

He went on to complete a residency in Chiropractic Family Practice at Lindell Hospital in affiliation with Barnes and Jewish Hospitals in St. Louis, MO. Dr. Morrison has been in private practice in Ellicott City, MD for 27 years. He has been named "Chiropractor of the Year" by the Maryland Chiropractic Association.

In 2005, he began an affiliation with the University of Maryland Center for Integrative Medicine and was formally brought on as Clinical Faculty with the School of Medicine in 2014. He teaches courses on manual medicine and pain science for 4th year medical students and residents.

Dr. Morrison's private practice is a clinical teaching facility for the University of Maryland School of Medicine. You may have the opportunity to meet the medical students and residents as they shadow the Morrison Chiropractic doctors throughout the year.

Dr. Morrison's philosophy is that correction of biomechanical dysfunctions of the musculoskeletal system and educating the patient about pain physiology are key elements in reducing or eliminating pain, restoring comfortable, healthy, efficient movement and in preventing future problems.

He recently co-authored a chapter on Integrative Management of Pain in Practical Management of Pain, 5th Ed. H. Benzon Ed. Dr. Morrison is a featured presenter for the University of Maryland Center for Integrative Health and Healing Annual Wellness Conference, Maryland Chiropractic Association, Maryland Massage Therapy Association, DC Dental Society and the Howard County Dental Hygiene Association. Katie joined us in October, 2022 providing exercise therapy as a Chiropractic Assistant, and supporting patients in healthy lifestyle adjustments as a Health and Wellness Consultant.

She has been practicing as a NASM-Certified Personal Trainer since 2020 and offers ongoing training services so our patients can maintain a healthy way of life long after our chiropractic team has completed treatment. In 2022, she completed a post-graduate certification from the University of Maryland Baltimore having studied Integrative Health and Wellness under a longtime colleague of Dr. Morrison.

She looks forward to meeting you and offering any opportunity to help you maintain your health and find your love for fitness.

Chiropractic Ellicott City MD J Roddy Meet the Team

Team mascot

J Roddy

Hello! My name is J Roddy and I am a Reeves turtle from China. How did I get my unique name you ask? I was named after a local musician named J Roddy Walston.

I am approximately forty years old and can live to sixty plus years! I was rescued from the wild animal meat market thirty years ago. Thank goodness!

I lived with Carl H. Ernst, PhD for many years. He is an author and was a Professor at George Mason University. A brilliant man with a love for turtles.

When he retired Dr. Morrison adopted me and I knew I was in good hands. Not to brag but I'm kind of a big deal around here. I love to interact with people.

Please do not tap on the glass as it bothers me. I will come to you. I enjoy treats, attention, chasing the fish, and casually soaking up the warm rays on my log.

There are lots of turtles in Maryland but remember not all of them live in water like me. If you see a turtle in the road please gently move him to the side he was headed. Do not take him home. We have a very specific home range and will spend the rest of our lives trying to get back.

For more information on turtles and how great we are visit www.matts-turtles.org.

Also check out these books - Turtles of the World and Turtles of the United States and Canada by Carl Ernst.
